Movie Review Part 1

Movies have been an influential part of our culture. They have spawned countless meme’s, quotes, and so forth. Recently Philly D (He’s a popular YouTube individual) , just finished his movie review segment n I thought I would start a running segment on movies on the blog as well.

This would be an installation type blog post. I’ll start with this decade and move on to the one before. In 10 parts each 1 representing movies of that year. So I’ll start with last year which is 2010. This section is thanks to information and ratings from screenrant.com http://screenrant.com/movie-reviews/.

They’re pretty good. One of my recommended websites, I got it bookmarked on my browser.

Oh n http://www.imdb.com/ helped a bit but, I haven’t really understood that website, it’s not as user friendly as Screenrant.com but it spreads back further like into 1910.

Anyway

There were many good movies in 2010. There were out and out reboots like Werewolf, The Karate Kid (more like the Kung Fu Kid), Predators(if I’m not mistaken, correct me if I’m wrong) and A-team. Are movies like Tron: Legacy, considered reboots? It’s a continuation right? Oh n Alice in Wonderland (more like Through the Looking Glass that’s what the book is called whereby the movie is based on) is not a reboot also right?

There were also the behemoths of story’s which I classify as the Epics, well what do u actually call them, the ilk of The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , Twilight: Eclipse , Iron Man, Toy Story 3and the Little Fockers. They are called blockbusters right?

But I’m sure The Fockers is not a blockbuster more like a ball buster because of how bad it was it’s the lowest rated movie in the whole year, which I find quite unfair. It was kind of funny. Screenrant.com rated it as a 1/5 it got a lower score than The Last Air Bender one of the worst movie of the year I’ve seen. I based this on the fact that the story and plot was rock solid and great. It was just the director that did not have any sense of direction on it which caused the movie in my opinion to lack a soul. The characters were fiscal and unexplored; when in fact the story of “The Last Airbender” is so awesome. Loved the cartoon series hate the movie. Well these were the worst rated movies of the year 2010. I only agree with screen rant half way that they were bad but it should have been the other way round Airbender deserved a 1 and The Little Fockers maybe deserved a 1.5. It’s a comedy I laughed would probably rate it a 3. It’s not Oscar standard or whatever but it works with the portrayal of the characters of Ben Stiller as Gaylord Focker and Robert De Niro as Jack Brynes.

Other movies that bombed were Skyline (2.0) and Piranha (2.5) rated as so. I didn’t want to see both the shows didn’t bother, because the trailers looked like, Ah I’ve seen this before example Skyline= alien movie doomsday thingy, Piranha= Anaconda, the Fishy version whereby the fact that Piranha are scavengers kind of dulls the fact of the movie. They are not flesh eating fish. Therefore you don’t die if you fall into a pool of piranha.

SOOOOOOOOOOO, the BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR FOR ME WASSSSSSSS INCEPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHEN IT WAS IN CONCEPTION IT WAS JUST A BABY NOW IT IS……….. INCEPTION!!!!!!!

WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE IT. IT WAS…THE MUSIC….. U KNW THE DRONING SOUND..DUMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! IN THE TRAILER

Check out the screenrant.com review. I can’t wrap my mind around explaining it.

http://screenrant.com/inception-movie-reviews-vic-68744/#top

But other than Inception, The fighter was awesome. Christian Bale again shined in the movie and Marky Mark A.K.A Mark Walberg was great. He is quite under- rated as an actor. The dude used to be in the FUNKY BUNCH, look where he is now, got to give him props for that. Not much needs to be said about this movie Bale won best supporting actor at the Oscar’s for it so I guess it was good, not like the awards mean anything. Inception did not win many accolades but it still is the best movie of 2010 for me because of the genuine idea and plot of the story. Guess the critics were pissed they themselves could not perceive the movie for what it is great.

Another movie which is an Indie movie if I’m not mistaken is blue valentine check the review here (it’s a long story): http://screenrant.com/blue-valentine-reviews-kofi-94109/#top I haven’t watched this movie I thought I did but I didn’t but wait I do LOL, but I think I know what it’s about, love, an expectable topic. I had to watch the trailer to remember it. LOL, DEFINTELY A GOOD WATCH. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are great together. LOVE THE UKELE SCENE!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYgr_iGATB4

The 3 movies are all 5/5 rated movies by screenrant.com

So there was also true grit a western no surprise there I do not understand what the big deal about this one is about though. Someone explain it to me?

Black Swan is another 1 which was a screwed up awesome movie, Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman in a lesbian depiction. It’s a plus for me. The psychological cues shown in the movie exhibited by Portman’s Character is also interesting to analyze is she OCD, Schizophrenic or what? There was some Freud explainable behaviour exhibited by her mother I think. But let’s not get into that. This post is getting to long. These movies were rate 4/5 on screenrant.com

The animated movies were a hit in 2010, toy story 3(4.5), How to train your Dragon? (4.5), Megamind (4.0), Despicable Me (4.0), Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’ Hoole (4.5) were all well rated by Screenrant.com check it out on their site. All links are at the end of the post.

Some movies I didn’t watch were Greenburg(4.0) supposedly Ben Stiller shows that he can act in this movie. Knight and Day (2.5) doing this equation, Diaz+ Cruise = ><$$>< =(

This means putting Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise together does not equal success in the bank. I haven’t seen Splice either.

Two movies I kind of want to watch are kick ass (4.5) and date night (3.0) haven’t got around to it. Those are the outstanding one’s I’ll come back to this one if necessary. The list is so long so any suggestion for me to add to my watch list?

P.S havent posted links n videos yet will update it. =)

Subway of Food!!

Hey there my dear bloggy.

So I was supposed to write about food like after the previous post like every week or something. Well I’m here after a month, heh ><. I will at least make it a monthly thing maybe due to the bipolarity it’s kind of hard for me to bring myself back here. But I’m here n that’s another story and so back to food.

I’m sure it is sure enough to say we all love sandwiches. Therefore there is no other place we think synonymous with sandwiches than Subway. They're really booming now days in Malaysia. There's a subway in nearly every area. They're healthy and delicious what more can I say. A lot more that’s what. >:0

The issue that irritates me the most about subway is the toppings of vegetables. They are bloody stingy about it. OMG subway what is your problem. It’s like sometimes they put like 3 slices of everything on it. This is how it goes there is bread or a tortilla wrap with or without cheese and assorted types of meats or no meat for the vegetarians (that’s not the problem), it’s when we come to the vegetables. WTF SUBWAY!!!! Your employees put like a pinch of lettuce, a fingertip pinch of olives and onions, 3 slices of tomatoes, 2 slices of pickles, 3 slices of green peppers and that’s all, I don't like cucumbers in my sandwich. SO COME ON SUBWAY!!! I’m paying good money for something I could have for about maybe RM5 or less and even when it’s vegetarian they’re like freaking stingy about it. The bloody sandwich is made of vegetables, cough it up SUBWAY for RM8 plus. OMG!!

This looks nothing like the real life version.
==

Let’s think about it. These are all just my estimates by the way.

So the bread is made of dough which is made out of a batch of flour and water; which could probably make half a day’s worth of bread. It counts on how busy a place is. I'm guessing 10 kg’s in a batch could fully stock the bread shelf for that half a day. This is like from morning till before the lunch crowd.
This is based on my rough estimates of bakery from experience from the "GOOD OLD" donut shop making BIG APPLE days; LOL, that was an experience. Anyway back to the guessing game.
Then here comes the bloody stingy ingredients; the vegetables which in bulk would be like pennies to them. In a whole probably a batch of lettuce could come from a whole lettuce maybe less which is about RM 2 something I think? If bought in bulk. I’m just guessing. After that come the onions and so on. You get the point.
I’m good with the sauces. I bleed them dry with that stuff. If i would i would put all the sauces, but it would taste wrong. I usually just have my sandwich with ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, bbq sauce, and the extra stuff of salt, pepper, cheese( yes people we can add more cheese!!!) and a new sauce called sweet sauce or something i forgot.
Anyway that’s my main complaint. Oh, and sometimes especially at the subway on Jalan Ipoh. Their cookies suck. But the one at Wisma UOA and Pusat Bandar and the rest seem ok; it’s just the new one on Jalan Ipoh. Oh and the Jalan Ipoh branch doesn't let me switch my drink from coke to water. WTF SUBWAY!! YOUR GASSY DRINKS ARE NOT GOOD FOR HEALTH!! I would like to be able to choose whether to drink water or coke or something else. In short the SUBWAY on Jln Ipoh still needs sometime to improve the rest are pretty awesome.
So this was my meal. =)

What it was supposed to look like.

That’s a big difference huh?

Oh and the soft yucky chocolate chip cookies

So SUBWAY!!! Could u chill out with the vegetables and give me what I want.
All in all SUBWAY is a healthy place to eat with the choice of the wrap or bread, meat and variable sauces and vegetables and condiments of potato chips or cookies and a drink, which is a balanced meal all in all.

The Beginning Of a Journey: Food

Food, we all love it, some hate it maybe because they can't have it. Although I can't understand for the life of me why? Well it's probably because they can't have it due to some diet, financial constraint or just not adventurous enough.

I've been thinking that I would like to talk about some nice restaurants, starting with the one's near where I live.

Maybe even try my hand at cooking??

I don't know what to start with. Maybe I'll make some Gambas Aglio e Olio( it means prawn aglio e Olio, or prawn and garlic in olive oil pasta).

Thats like my favourite pasta and its the easiest one. I was inspired by the movie Julie & Julia movie to try and start cooking. Since I love food so much I thought I should give it a try. So this is the idea. I would try to give cooking once a week and then try the Julie & Julia challenge of cooking one dishl a day. Lets see how it goes. I don't want to burn the kitchen and over extend myself. So that's on the cooking idea part.

I will probably try out the restaurants review idea , its a viable idea. So lets give that a try. A different dish everyday doesn't have to be a different restaurant, just something different for everyday but if its from a different restaurant then it will count. But Tragicly I think there would be some places where the eat's won't be so good. So heres to the good one's and hopefully courage to face the bad one's. I'll probably do the good one's first,
heh..

So here's to the foodies journey!!!

Let's see how it goes.

=)
